I finally realized why I'm not a fan of the new buttons: the narrow/black waist(neck). It seems to make the button look like it's not well connected to the rest of the tuner. A shot of the the new ones vs a P245 Phase III's:

I have not seen the new tuners irl or tried them for that matter.

However I imagine I will prefer them over the regular phase ii or iii buttons. Simply because they are wider, which will make them operate more precice and smoothly. My only annoyance with my PRS guitars are the tuners, more so on the cusom than the tulip buttons. The buttons are to small for the gear ratio, making them feel stiff and less accurate than I like. Schaller M6 have a better gear ratio to me, with the same buttons (Changed them on an old CE24, loved them). If the only thing they changed are the buttons, that will give more leverage on the gears, making them operate better. That is a good thing in my book.
