I just received my first PRS guitar yesterday. I have to say, it is a wonderous instrument. I was prepared to find it beautiful from the photos posted by PRS and Ish Guitars, but seeing it in person, it is even more beautiful than I anticipated. The top, back, neck, headstock veneer and fingerboard are all Ziricote, with side dots and inlay consisting of Tibetan turquoise.
I haven't had much of a chance to play it yet, but I really love the feel of the satin neck - I had that on an old Taylor guitar and always missed it. The guitar is completely satin finished (which does lead me to ponder the appropriate hanger material for it). I usually prefer gloss finishes, but I have to admit, the satin is a nice touch as it makes the guitar look really elegant.
I primarily play Hawaiian slack key guitar (on nylon and steel string) but I wanted to learn some jazz playing and after searching for a while decided on a PRS Hollowbody. I didn't intend to buy a Private Stock, but I just couldn't get the wood on this one out of my head, so I went for it. I'm regrettably having to sell my favorite Kenny Hill double top classical guitar to help finance it (and probably will be sorry I did) but I couldn't resist having this one.
Attaching a couple of photos - the first three were PRS photos, the last two (poorly lit and shot by me) show it in its new spot on the wall...
