Although the stock strings on my SE Angelus Custom have mellowed, they still sustain nicely. Got the guitar early this year (March, maybe?), and the strings were probably the factory ones, and the guitar was a closeout deal for the model, built in 2014 IIRC.

I love new strings on an acoustic. Not so much the sustain as the brightness

I'm with ozboy - never been one to try to get as much play as possible out of strings - love the feel and sound of new strings!
