I could go on and on.
Nothing extraordinarily unique. Your typical classic rock n' roll/blues suspects you've all heard of. But they are my faves nonetheless.
I'm more into bluesy improv and raw guitar players who at times are even a bit sloppy. Page being perfect example. I'll take that anyday over fast, technically proficient, or as some would call "fluid" guitar playing. Yes it's great, yes it takes serious skill, but to me it just doesn't do anything for me in the same way I'm not a fan of "insert artist here". Not a knock on their ability, it just doesn't get my rocks off.
I was never into the whole 'shred' thing, and when I like players like EVH, my favorite moments are not the blazing speed, tapping, fretboard burning moments that get most guitarists who like him excited. I dig into the bluesier side of Eddie who started out copying Clapton's licks. I feel like a LOT of the 80s copycats got the technical aspect (or tried to) but totally forgot about Ed's bluesier lead playing and killer rhythm and riffs. "Eruption" does nothing for me really where as most guitarists and non-guitarists alike go gaga for it. It's great, and it's cool and hard to do but it's not what I like about EVH. If that was all he did, I wouldn't be a fan, but I feel that's what draws most to him and that's fine but it's not my thing and I think there is more to him than that.
