My wife would never suggest I need to buy another guitar. It is always why do I need another guitar, After I bought my last guitar I gave her the $500 I had left over...she was happy to get the $500 and really likes the guitar.

I have a simple answer, which is a question: Would you rather I bought another smart phone [which will be obsolete within six months] or a new laptop [outdated within a few years] or a guitar which will likely increase in value and could last for 40 years?

Mind you, she's also a musician so she would only ask with tongue-in-cheek immediately before her own: I saw a beautiful new guitar in town; I'm thinking of getting it...
