What did you practice with/gig this week?

This guitar:

Sorry, had to pull old pics. No fresh ones available.
Killer combo!

Last night I went to play with a few people. My original thought was to bring my Casino or Les Paul. Honestly part of that was because I felt weird (not knowing them) to pull out this not inexpensive Paul's guitar . . . but I brought the PRS. (not that the Les Paul or even the Casino is cheap). And I'm really happy I did. It is such a beautifully sounding and versatile instrument!
That's the ticket!

I’m boring. While I’ve certainly bought a pile of guitars since then, I’ve been pretty much playing the same guitar since early(ish) 2017.
Hey, I played my PS exclusively for 5 years with the band. Didn’t even plug another in at rehearsal or a gig. Wasn’t until last year I brought the Polar Bear out of retirement/back up duty and been playing that again. The old McStandard still delivers. Sometimes I prefer it. Wrapping up some recording and I pretty much used those 2.

Highlight of the week.
A bit of the backstory, since the guitar is older than the forum.
Mrs and I went to the 2009 Experience to...uhm...do some research. We did not leave with empty hands. There was one guitar, however, that she missed after we left. Wood Library wasn't a thing yet, but Special Favours were. She talked to the dealer and cooked up this:

She wanted a nicer top than the one we didn't take home, so we wouldn't be missing out

She wanted a pretty neck and knew I lusted after a backup rosewood
CK_588BlueGrassHeel.jpg

and she wanted no doubt that it was special

Number 1 was (and is) outstanding. Not long after Brent did a run of 17.

The guitar is barely finished. Paul says the satin top is better for the sound. Maybe, maybe not. I know many of them got a gloss added over time. I like the intimacy of the feel. This guitar insists on being played through the Mark III.

Very special Peter.

OMG...
On the rare occasion we get to see this Godess I fall in love all over again!
Phenomenal...

Had to switch axes. Practiced with the fretless Guild until Thursday rehearsal. Practice went so bad, I decided to switch to this,
My Black Tiger, so that at least the notes from the bass will be tight. Here’s hoping for a better next rehearsal.
That's a beauty!!!
What made rehearsal so difficult?

whoa a knob for each string and a string per th’ knob.

I sold my stripped 58. I’m not going to call myself stupid. It’s more like, sorta, kinda, you know, in other words, uh, well alright Stupid me too two.
Here's what happened.

I liked the Stripped 58 so much that I decided to order an SC58 Artist with an ebony fretboard and 53/10 pickups. I sold the Stripped 58 to fund it.

As an intelligent person might have predicted, with the ebony fretboard the guitar wasn't going to do the same things the Stripped 58 did. Great guitar, but replaced it with the McCarty Singlecut - more in line with what the Stripped 58 did.

What I lost selling the Stripped 58 and SC58 Artist could probably have funded another guitar. That's a big reason why I'm not the brightest bulb.

Hi @LSchefman …..Yea, those Ebony fretboards really change the tone and also the size of the note. And I’m not a big fan of guitars with lots of high end, which Ebony does so well! .. Learned my lesson the hard way doing this years ago… Rosewood only for me these days, but I’m sure that there are other fingerboard woods that sound great as well.
