The Hamer Artist arrived today , the finish ( like my 20+ yr old McSoapy) has gone from bright orange down to tobbacco , but it's absolutely flawless, not a nick or scratch anywhere. The hot Duncans ARE! (37%/25%) hotter than my McSoapies and Lollars but have mercy she has some bark if you add gain , clean she's perfect for Jazz. I'm impressed , this was a sub $1500 guitar when new 23 years ago and the fit/ finish , materials are all top notch .. of course there was a lot of hand work then and they were US built by a small crew.
There are several around for that price all these years later , as a workhorse instrument .. it's a safe investment in tone.
I'd put them in the S2 category with the US parts.
There was some of the typical P90 noise , so I popped the cover to shield it .. Shielded Aluminum cover!, the cavity all shielded in conductive paint ( well done) just one slight omission , they didn't link the cover to the cavity. A few minutes and some copper tape and she's MUCH better. ,
Acoustically I can see what all the fuss is about , she 's very clear and loud. I'm a Korina fan forever .
SO ...I'm saving for a KL33, Sergio always knows ... it'll be a good compliment to my Westie and PS IRW neck Santana Semi
Helped a grieving family and snagged a sprisingly great guitar I can take to Open Mic without worring about abuse.
