Cheap speaker cab

I’ve been using a couple of SubZero 10 inch speaker cabs for the last few years. I uprated the speakers from the Celestion ten30 originals (perfectly good enough most of the time) to a Celestion V type, which got rid of a little fizz on my digital amp.
Kind of linked to my post on harsh valve sound I noticed recently that only on certain notes a very harsh resonance, and tapping the cab it was easy to hear the cab resonant frequency was exactly the same, all be it an octave or two below the notes affected. Cheap particle board cabs I would think suffer this problem so I braced the sides with some inch by inch and half hard wood expecting to end up chucking the cabs in favour of some solid pine ones but surprisingly it worked and the harshness is gone.
Thought I’d share my cheap fix, in fact it only cost me £1 for some wood screws.
Even before the mod the cabs stood up surprisingly well in an A/B comparison with an Orange cab I had a while back. Sometimes cheap can work.
