Sometimes old habits are hard to break. I’ve used all types of guitar cables over the years and of course eventually they go bad. I’ve even repaired them by cutting off some inches away from the internally broken wire and soldering the quarter inch jack back on.......but I’ve grown lazy to bother.

As basic as it is m, has there been any improvements over the years to guitar cables as far as rugged-ability. Do any of you prefer a certain make or model cable I’m only looking for a 15’ preferred cable 20’ max I don’t like to use them long. Are those no noise cables any good? The ones you plug in or pull it out, Has like a little depressed switch on it.

Curious with what you guys and gals are using, Pretty busy tonight but I’ll read up on your replies tomorrow.

    Thanks!

I like the Planet Waves American Stage cables. I also have a String Dog cable I really like.

Gave up on cables and went wireless for home/studio/stage years ago, so I'm no help at all.

I’m strictly a PRS van damme cable kind of guy. They sound very transparent to my ears, and have a lifetime warranty. Klotz were great until they broke.

The maker of the cable used. I second this.

@JustRob bought me a PRS Van Damme cable, and while I wouldn’t have done it for myself, I can now admit all other cables are trash.

I have PRS/Van Damm, custom Canare GS-6 w/ Neutrik connectors (favs), and a Line 6 G-10 wireless, like Dave. Must admit, the G-10 is getting the most use.

    Currently a Line 6 G10.
Had it for a few years, but would get the pedal version (G10s) if I were to do it again, only because of the 9v power option.

I've been using the wireless Boss WL nubbins. They are quite nice and convenient, there's no complaints on the latency and they are like 99% the same tone as a cable (as long as you aren't going into a picky fuzz pedal).

If you are recording, use a cable, but wireless is great for practice/noodling around the house.

The one guitar cable that I have and refuses to die, is a Whirlwind Leader cable that I am torturing since the 90's...
Bought several others and some of them died, or some of them I still have, but that one cable just wants to stay with me....

Another vote for PRS Van Damme - bought on Les' recommendation and it's a nice cable. Not the silent jack version - just normal jacks.
