I note from the catalog listing that the Zach pickups in 2014 were described simply as "245". By the 2018 catalog, they're called "245 S."

I think I detect a substantial difference in the tonal balance, with the pickups in the 2014 being substantially darker, heavier, and ... well, LP-ier. The 2018 are brighter, lighter, and PRS-ier.

Pickup heights are the same; same strings on both, though on the 2018 the strings are a month newer than on the '14, so to be more thoroughly scientific about it, I'll put a new set on and compare again. But if what I swear I'm hearing is real, I expect the '14 to get somewhat brighter with new strings, but no lighter in the low end.

(The '14 also weighs 5 ounces more. I'm still trying to decide whether heavier guitars sound stronger, massier.)

Can anyone corroborate or clarify what I'm hearing?
