Ugh, Private Stock wait...

I've been on the list since December 2014 for a Paul Trombetta pedal...he's up to October '14 as of Friday...

And he's added a few new pedals since then, so now I have NO IDEA which to get!

It goes beyond that, of course.

"I won't wait that long for MY custom built instrument," displays such entitlement that it makes me ill. So there's the whole issue of "deserve."
I didn't get that. What I get out of that is a lack of understanding of what's going on in the department.

It could also be that OP is nearing end of life and is worried about surviving that long.

I do get the impression that he didn't, so you could be right. I know in my case, I realized I didn't know what I wanted yet, so decided to put it off until I do. My tastes will most definitely change over the course of almost a year.

Oh well, hard to tell without any follow up from ol' OP.

And with the recent barrage of people signing up to complain, your theory not much of a stretch.

I wonder if they're working in concert. (conspiracy theory)

However, I don't think you're the type of person who would make that decision, and then turn around and complain about it on the builder's forum.
No, I would not.
I might make the observation that the wait is getting long. No guarantee that I would choose language that fully reflected that intent.

I didn't think my post was in the least bit rude.

The wait is what it is. If you can't wait, don't buy one. It's not like you or anyone else is going to accomplish or learn anything from posting a complaint about PS waits.

It kinda was rude. Les.. I like your posts. You bring valuable info and insight to the forum members. But, lately, you've taken it upon yourself to be forum police and judge people on whether their posts are acceptable or unacceptable. Let's let the mods do their work and be the judge of that.

Forums exist for the purpose of feedback as well. PRS reads all this stuff. If PRS starts seeing that the wait times are potentially hurting Private Stock sales, then they might take steps to better the wait times. Whether that be enlarging staff, or any number of things. This is why I argue about you guys being more receptive of the dissenting opinion. PRS needs to know what people are unhappy with as well. Its all part of the research involved in bringing the right products to the market or tailoring business practices, methods, and facilities to meet demand.

The OP does make a point. Its a lot of money to tie up in something like that for 8 months. What if some financial disaster struck PRS in 6 months and folded? The OP would be out a lot of money. The chances of PRS folding are nil in that time. But, its just an example that crap happens and the longer the time, the more time there is for that crap to potentially happen. I personally wouldn't put money down on a 8 month build time for that reason. Its too much risk to me.

Dunno.

People say they want perfection, and they want hand-craftsmanship, but paradoxically, they want it instantly. If it isn't about a wait, it's about a flaw, or there aren't enough colors, or the trem on a less expensive model isn't the USA trem. One guy was complaining that the tuning machines on the S2s don't have enough screws, even though we haven't seen a single complaint about the machines coming loose. Etc, etc.

It just gets tiresome.

I'm sure my posts get tiresome, too, and I have far too many posts in the first place, but for goodness' sake, why not post threads about how the guitars sound, how they play, tips for playing, gear that works well, or not well, with the guitars, etc.?

It's discouraging to come here and see the Complaint Department.

If I want to hear complaints, I can talk to my wife. Don't make me do that.

Fine, but I'd also like to mention that you bring a lot of negativity to the forum at times, like today with your complaint about the lack of certain colors in the US. If you stop doing your complaining over something so trivial, I'll stop doing my admonishment thing. In any case, I'm glad you like some of my posts, and I enjoy reading many of yours.

Its a lot of money to tie up in something like that for 8 months.

The simplest thing is to remind you that there is demand for the goods, and that hand craftsmanship on this order takes time.

It's not for everyone.

On the other hand, you could order a guitar today that's going to be here tomorrow, get hit by a bus crossing the street later the same day.

I recently ordered a PS and between the time I ordered it, and the time it came in, which was just a few months because it was one of the special runs, I had nerve damage and had to have surgery in order to be able to play guitar at all. In fact, I've only been out of the cast for a few weeks, and only recently got back to playing. The guitar had to sit for quite a while.

So, life has risks. But small risk, small reward. Bigger risk, bigger reward. That's how it works sometimes.

Risks aren't for everyone. If you don't want to accept the risks, don't place an order for something that takes time. Just don't complain about it.

I don't see for one second how saying that is rude. It's simply an obvious fact of life.

See.. I don't see it as complaining. I see it as consumer feedback. :) I'm letting PRS know what I like. Other people chimed in and said they liked it too. Now PRS knows there are some people out there who like bright orange guitars. Maybe PRS looks at that post and other similar posts and does a run of 12 bright orange CEs for the US market. Maybe those 12 CEs would sell like hotcakes. In the end, I might just have helped PRS sell more guitars. Hows that for being positive?

Let me quote your post in the other thread:

"Let me just leave this here for your viewing pleasure...while I beat my head against the desk. I would have taken this in a second over my trampas CE....in a SECOND. Does PRS think Americans are dull with no style? We get the washed out colors and Japan gets stuff like this."

That is a 100% negative way of putting forward your "consumer feedback."

A more positive approach might have been, "I like this color, and I think people in the US would buy it."

In any case, if you think my post in this thread was rude, maybe you need to adjust your own approach. Or maybe we are both living in glass houses and throwing stones?

I'd say it's time for some pie..in this case, key lime!

In a particular small country, there was a king. He was much beloved of the people, and so they built him a castle. They were very poor people and could only afford to build the castle out of grass. So they worked for weeks and finally completed a lovely woven grass castle for him:cool:

The king was pleased:)

Another country, significantly richer than the first, presented a peace offering of an ornate throne. The king accepted this gift graciously and was most pleased. The only trouble was, the throne was very uncomfortable. So the king got himself a more comfortable chair and kept the massive throne in the attic. Naturally, it fell through the floor and killed him:(

The moral of this story is that people who live in grass houses shouldn't stow thrones.

Well, I was originally going to post some NY cheesecake but I wasn't sure where it falls on the cake/pie spectrum.

Edit: Wikipedia says cheesecake is a tart. So I fail either way.
