The Official "McCarty 594" Love Thread!!

So those pickup rings seem fine, though when you look down at the pickups when playing, the bridge pup looks like it is way high in the air. The rings themselves look like they are both the same height, while the stock bridge ring is higher. Now I need a black toggle tip!

Nice. I always like black rings on black guitars.

And yeah that's how they fit. You can see pretty well here:

Did anyone here get that charcoal korina 594 from CME yesterday? Man. I went to buy it and it sold that morning.

Too bad you missed it.
Another will come along.
Welcome to the forum.
Yeah it’s funny. I usually never regret missing a guitar. There’s a million more. It’s just funny. I’m thinking about it for a while, decide to pull the trigger, and it sold that morning. Lol. I think it was listed for like 3 months. Hahaha. Ah well.

And thanks for the welcome. Long time birds and moons guy, got out of the forum game for a while, and it’s funny... I thought I was already a member here!

That top is winning. Wide flame is how I roll. I wonder what it looks like with the white switch tip, white rings, and....white knobs...

So I'm kinda GASin' for a Singlecut 594 Soapbar Goldtop. I really more of a double cut person, but I been thinking about a goldtop and I figure if i'm going to get a goldtop, it should probably be single cut.

I've looked around Reverb and ebay but haven't come across any. Any suggestions on different shops to check? I don't normally like to buy my guitars online but I have utmost confidence in PRS and they are really the only manufacturer I even consider buying without playing first.

Hello,

Could you tell me if the fretboard is made of ebony?

It's quite strange because the core 594 PRS are supposed to have rosewood fretboards but this one looks so dark.

Could you help me?

Thanks in advance, Daniel.

If you email PRS customer service the serial number they can give you a full rundown on the specs. It could very well be ebony but it’s difficult to tell in the pictures.

based on my experience of 3 ebony fretboards, that appears to be rosewood.
You are correct it's a very dark rosewood, and the photos are not high-resolution enough to say with 100% certainty.
But the pieces of evidence; I've always noticed ebony is much more shiny, the surface is more polished. That fretboard looks dullish, which is typical of a new rosewood fretboard. Until it's oiled and played heavily then polishes up a little bit.
And that's related to the 2nd piece of evidence I can see open pores (but not good lighting in the photo). Rosewood always has some open grain structure that I can see when I zoom all the way in.
Ebony is usually very tight grain and you can see very little open structure.
It's usually a highlighted parameter so the seller almost always strongly touts and communicates when it is in ebony fretboard.

So much closer picture of the fretboard start to ID from a photo.
As the other guy said....... hangtags, serial numbers, dealer paperwork, should be easily obtained information.

Looks like Rosewood to me - But I think asking PRS Customer Service is a great idea.
