Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new awesome guitar!
I have a 2009 that looks pretty much exactly like yours. Mine is one of those guitars that just has that extra something. I have put this up against a bunch of single cut guitars, several of them being Les Pauls. It has come out above all of them for tone. It just has a great tone and feel to it. Mine has the set of old school 57/08 pickups that came stock in it. Some of these pickups are just magical. My Ted is one of those guitars that just went together right.
I want to confirm what one of the other commenters said: you definitely won on that deal. Fender Custom Shop Telecasters are great too, but they are available all day every day- used or new. You can easily find others if you decide you want another Telecaster at some point.
I own a Ted SC245, all original with 57/08 humbuckers. To me, it is such a better guitar than the Gibson R7 Goldtop Les Paul Reissue I used to own: the feel, the sound, the neck carve, the large frets, upper fret access, the pickups… There is not one thing about the R7 that I preferred over the Ted SC245.
In general, I do like Gibsons too and I currently own a very nice 1960 Reissue ES-335.
Well, you are allowed to say that here, but there are consequences ;~)) Just joking of course, but man that is a beautiful guitar to have to part with!! Best wishes on snagging that Matchless!!!
