S2 Tone Too Dark - Suggestions ?

I wonder how the neck pickup tonally sounds different in a S2 Standard 22 versus the 24. I don't like muddier neck pickups (who does?). I have an Epiphone 1960 v3 with Burstbucker 2 bridge, 1 in the neck, and really like the tones from both these pickups, the neck isn't muddy at all. Contrast that, the Gibson '57 in the neck sounds pretty muddy unless coil split. Some good tips here though on how to rectify muddy pickups.

Try some Elixir strings. If you use "regular" type strings like D'addario (no wierd coatings and such), Elixirs are great. They feel exactly like what you're used to but are a little bit brighter or more presence. I always use them on my Custom 22 with Dragon II pickups. My neck pickup also has huge low end and can get muddy really quick.
