Quilted or not?

Yours definitely isn't a quilt top. It is a flame top or perhaps more accurately a curly top. Curl and Flame come essentially from the same pieces of wood. The only difference being the angle at which the cut is made relative to the growth rings. The more perpendicular you get to the growth rings (they call this quartersawn), the more STRAIGHT the flame will be. If you make the cut less than 90 degrees relative to the growth rings, that same figuring will go from dead straight to more curly (they call this riftsawn or flatsawn), like yours. Quilt comes from a completely different growth figuring/pattern.

Very cool video. I like them all, but must say I especially love the flame/QS bit.
