hi,wondering if they made a prs ce in alder in 1996?any help thanks

Unless I'm mistaken the cross over year was 92. There may have been a LE run but the general CE was mahogany with a maple top by 96.

Alder CE’s ran until 1995 last time I checked.
I need to crack open the book, but I’m pretty sure.

The PRS website says they made the altar through 95 but also in 2008. I have a 2008 Maple top and it sure looks and feels like older. Sounds great too.

Must be one of the first when they changed over. They did make CE “Standards” with solid mahogany bodies and I was hoping that’s what you had. I haven’t seen an original one in awhile.

Yeah the date on my neck (inside the neck joint) is actually 1994 if I remember correctly but it has a 1995 serial number. Mother of pearl birds also (not abalone).

I actually just put that neck back on it (I have another neck with a maple fretboard and Hiland inlays that’s been on it for probably 15 years) but it’s over 100 miles away at a friend’s studio at the moment. It’s pretty heavily modified (I took the finish off with a heat gun and a plastic scraper and had the top restained to black (it was emerald green), put Kinman pickups in it, mahogany back plates, etc. I’ll try to remember to take some pics, I probably should now that it has the original neck back on it.

ok thanks a lot reason i ask is the music store i bought it from they had it as a 1996.but what i looked at it was a 1990.cool i get it tomorrow
