All CE are bolt on. Just because it's a bolt on that doesn't qualify as a CE.

Example of older core bolt on, Swamp Ash Special, and a modern bolt on, Silver Sky.

As has been said, they had to change the name from "Classic Electric" to CE because of a trademark infringement challenge from Peavey. The first ones actually said "PRS Electric" on the headstock. Here's 487th one made 35 years ago (1988).
