What are "CE" model guitars?

I'm new to PRS (3 months) and have most of the model naming figured out.
But what the heck are the "CE" models?

Bolt on guitars. Original ce were the same as core but with a bolt on maple neck. New ones are a shallower carve, core pickups and electronics, import model bridge, and locking tuners but differnt from core.

"Classic Electric" - ignoring their origin and the various exceptions to the rule you can dig up over the years since they were first introduced, they're basically the bolt-on side of the standard and custom PRS guitar.

What are they? Along with the Bernie Marsden, they're my favorite PRS guitar!

Bolt on neck and vibrato. Very lively sound!

Kind of a cross between a Stratocaster and double cutaway Les Paul is how I see it.

As has been said, they had to change the name from "Classic Electric" to CE because of a trademark infringement challenge from Peavey. The first ones actually said "PRS Electric" on the headstock. Here's 487th one made 35 years ago (1988).

I have a limited run CE, Ebony fingerboard with 57/08 pickups.. it's absolutely perfect in every way and sounds incredible!

It's called Blue Matteo Smokewrap Burst, not sure but it may also be a limited color? I was looking for a Aquamarine Burst but ultimately fell for that one, the ebony board and 57/08's were icing on the cake.
