Hi PRS enthusiasts ! So a McCarty recently joined the fray as my go to alternate tuning/ slide guitar. The axe has the same fat neck as my '98 Cu24, obviously the resemblance pretty much stop there .... the Cu24 is a chord monster which shines in high gain environments while the McCarty has a nice woody transparent tone. the guitar came with the pups almost stuck to the strings which gave it a bit of a farty boomy tone but after a fair bit of setting up, I have to admit it really shines, gone is the dark muddiness I've heard so many complain about, I was astounded at how sensitive the guitar was to a good setup, it doesn't even feel like the same axe anymore. Although I have a set of Dimarzio PAF 36th I was anticipating dropping into it, the stock pups are doing the job !
