Sh*t! I messed up and hit purchase after counting up some lottery tickets. I didn't "NEED" this at all, but I have wanted one for quite a while. This one is a 2017 A40E. I gotta stay off of Reverb! We will see how long it will take to get here. When I saw the math in comparison to others of the same model, I jumped. So much for "looking before I leap".

Congrats! I look forward to hearing your opinions on it when it arrives!
I certainly will. I have always had lower end acoustics. Almost just to be able to play without plugging in. The best I have is an old Washburn Cumberland series. I know this isn't the private stock stuff. But I am interested to see how it stacks up, at least to guitars that are just under its price point. If it can be as good as, say, a Taylor 214 series I will be quite satisfied. (I have played a few of those as I have friends that own them). I guess I will see in a few days.

I do wish there were a core option for acoustics from PRS though. Something where it bridges the gap between picking on up under a thousand and having to spend five or six thousand. But, this will be a good entry point for PRS acoustics for me to see how I like them over time.

I think you will find this SE acoustic compares favorably to anything at 2-3 times the price...in the range you’re talking about.

For the brief time PRS made core acoustics...they were essentially Private Stock quality.

I have noticed the burst A40Es seem to have neck binding to where as though the nattys don't. (or is that just dependent on the year of manufacture)?

I think you're going to like the results. When they first announced the SE acoustics at Experience, Ricky Skaggs did an A/B w/a PS acoustic. You could see the surprise in his eyes. After he played them, he said, "Wow. This SE is really good. Is there a difference between the two? Yes, absolutely. Is there a 10x the price difference? Uh...no."

I did an A/B w/my 1997 Larrivee D-09 (maybe a 1996, but I bought it in '97) and my SE Angelus (original line, with electronics). There is a difference, but it's not as drastic as you'd expect. The SE holds its own quite well, and I don't really hesitate to grab it (or one of the other SEs I have) when I need an acoustic part.

So, apparently, the tracking says I won't catch a sniff of this until Wednesday of next week. That is one of the drawbacks of ordering anything online. You are subject to whatever the shipping company is.

do yourself a favor. Take that tracking number and throw it away. You will drive yourself insane checking the progress every 2 minutes. Even worse you will be spitting mad at the delivery company for driving past your house 3 time before they finally stop to deliver your package. Well, I do that anyway, you may have more restraint than I do.

OK....so I just checked the tracking number again.....they actually moved the date of delivery SOONER than it was before. It is already in my state and will be arriving TOMORROW instead of WEDNESDAY!!!! :D That NEVER happens with today's shipping companies!
