I'm Waiting For The Man

Les, that guitar has a beautiful flame maple pattern. Just gorgeous! Love to hear some sound clips.

Thanks! I will record some clips as soon as I'm able - the heart surgery I had caused a nerve to get pinched in the C6-7 vertebra space - this is a very common complication caused by how they lay the patient out on the operating table, the surgery took 6 hours in my case, so it's understandable. As a result, my 3rd and 4th fingers on my left hand have paresthesia (partial numbness like when novocaine is wearing off after the dentist drills ya), and it still feels a little weird to play, so what I can usually do very easily is causing me a little trouble.

In other words, my playing sucks worse than usual!

They say this goes away after a while, and it seems to vary from day to day. So I'm hoping soon!

Wishing you a fast recovery. I've got sciatica at the moment leaving my right leg weaker than my left. Sucks, so I feel for you on having a pinched nerve.

I'm pretty sure the UPS dude wasn't in the pic I posted, since it was taken by my dealer before shipping it to me.

Hmmmm...since you brought it up....we haven't actually seen any pics since you've supposedly received this wonderful axe. So, as they say...pics, or it's a Squier! :p

You're saying that like being a Squier is a bad thing!

There's nothing at all wrong with being a Squire, or an Esquire. I really just want to see some porn of that maple neck! As for being a Squier, eveything has a purpose.

Congrats on a wonderful new guitar, so damn classy! Best wishes on a complete recovery and hopefully won't be long before your playing returns to where you left off.

Great looking gtr. Congrats. Hey, what are your thoughts on the 58/15 pups? Compared to the McCarty V3 57/08 pups?

Thx!

I'm not sure what the V3 57/08s are...I have 57/08s wired for the McCarty Singlecut on that guitar, and I've had a couple of earlier guitars with 57/08s. Of course, with the maple neck and thinner body, even strummed acoustically, this guitar sounds worlds apart from the McCarty Singlecut. So it's hard to directly compare them in detail.

I can only generalize and say that the 58/15s are more open-sounding, brighter, and more detailed than the 57/08s I'm familiar with. If you imagine a P-90's clarity and chime, only without the hum and noise, the 58/15 is headed somewhat in that direction. The coil splits are superb, maybe the best ever on a PRS 'bucker I think.

I know - this general description probably does you no good at all. ;)

But I think Kingsley has some clips up of his new semi-hollow McCarty with a thicker body and the 58/15s, and that'll give you a pretty good idea.

Thanks Les. Someone had told me the pups in our McCarty's were version 3. Anyway, I do love the ones in mine. Curious about the newer ones.

I know! Three electric guitars now!

Probably my limit. Any more than that, and I won't survive String Change Day. Not to mention the difficulty of trying to decide which one to record with.

You had to go & remind me about the dreaded "String Change Day" that awaits me :bawling:

Congrats on your new guitar. The color is cool. Can't wait to hear sound clips.

Also glad to see that there are others in the forum that have heard of Lou Reed

Sorry to hear about the complications, Les. But I'm sure you'll work through with ease. That's just the way you are.

Don't be shy with the updated photos. That thing is beautiful.

Les,

About a year ago, I woke up from a sound sleep with severe neck pain, a right shoulder that had muscle cramps, and partial paralysis (tingling etc) in my right hand - ring and pinky fingers. The diagnosis was similar to yours (not sure of the exact 2 vertebrae that caused the problem - I was told but I forgot). End result was physical therapy for about a month (along with home exercises) and things slowly got better in both fingers over the course of 3 months. I do a fair amount of finger picking, so losing the use to some degree of my ring finger was not fun. The good news was that it did get better & I am confident (and hope) you will regain full use of both fingers. All the best.
