Das Boot

But I confess to liking the company of ladies and kids.
So do I but sneaking a lady to the specific ride (gals have their own) that I got the boots for would get you 'booted.'

And I take much better care of my guitars.

Kind of the motto of my fav. guitar shop. Life is too short to play sh*tty guitars

But I feel you. My regulars are italian style chelsea boots.

These are the cowboy boots I wear. I like them. Mine are all black from a few years ago.

Those Are Great! I Was Simply Offering A Boot Option Your Wife May Feel Is An Acceptable Option (To Her) So You Could Mix It Up A Bit And Still Stay True To Always Wearing Boots Minus The Riff Raff... :)

Oh, I have the other type of boots, completely wife-approved! And I usually do wear them for dress, or sometimes even meetings when I don’t want clients to think I’m weird.

OK, they think I’m weird regardless, but maybe I’m a little bit less weird in Chelsea boots or similar.

There’s something about a cowboy boot I like.

But yes, as you mention, life is too short for sh!tty shoes, plus they leave a less than stellar impression.

Not submarines, actually. That was just clickbait.

No my friends, I'm talking about boots instead of shoes kind of boots. :)

I just don't like plain old shoes very much. I like boots. So I have a few pairs of Chelsea boots for more dressy occasions, and some super-nice cowboy boots that could work just fine for any occasion, but my wife thinks they're goofy. I'm pretty sure she's right, but I like them anyway.

Yesterday as we were getting ready to go to a not-all-that-dressy couples shower we were co-hosting for my nephew at a restaurant, I started to pull out my cowboy boots. My wife said, "Not the cowboy boots!"

I replied that there are plenty of occasions where cowboy boots are a sweet choice.

"Sure," she said. "Rodeos."

[insert laugh track]

We're taking my kids out to dinner tonight. My plan is to get dressed WITH the cowboy boots before she notices.

This is not my first rodeo. ;)

What about Chukka Boots? Or Uggs?

I'm in the UK and will rock the cowboy boots for the odd gig, though usually stick with the pink converse! I'm too old to care

Pink (or, indeed, any other colour under the sun) Converse = good.

Docs (of any kind whatsoever) = very good.

Cowboy boots = *

[*What living hell are we talking here - the '70s? Even very strappy Louboutins would be an improvement on cowboy boots.......]

"Sure," she said. "With assless chaps." [T,FTFY]

This is not my first rodeo. ;)

It'd probably be your last

I’ve lived in Texas all my life.

In the 70’s I listened to classic rock and dressed like a rocker of that time would.

In 1980 Urban Cowboy came out, and it seemed like everbody became “Drugstore Cowboys “ overnight.

I didn’t and wouldn’t join the Cowboy Cosplay.

I finally went from playing rock through the 80’s to playing Country in the early 90’s.

At that time All the country bands were wearing country boots, Wrangler jeans, and cowboy hats.

So I dressed accordingly and dressed like a Cowboy, and looked at it like a “Work Outfit .”

When I wasn’t playing a gig I dressed in normal clothes.

Later in the mid to late 90’s I joined a Country/Rock variety band and ditched the Cowboy Outfit.

I’ve never bought or worn another pair of boots since then.

I was 18 when my father died
I was in school in Tennessee and had to fly back to Michigan for the funeral
When I got home, Dad's brother, My Uncle Louie was laying on the couch resting from his trip
next to the couch was his pair of Cowboy Boots
I managed to put them on and they fit!
Well it came time to go to the funeral home that afternoon and I was still in those boots
not wanting to take them off for some unknown reason
My uncle had no other shoes but he got a pair of my fathers loafers and wore them
The funeral and the burial happened over the next few days and I was still in those boots
When it came time to leave my uncle simply said "send them back to me when you're finished with them"
Well I wore them for years until I had wore through both soles and the heels
To be funny I mailed them back to my uncle and told him I was done with them
A month or so passed and I got a package from him
He had taken those boots and had them fixed!
I wore them for many more years until they could no longer be fixed
And I have never been without a pair of cowboy boots since

And I have never been without a pair of cowboy boots since

Situation-appropriate, clearly.

My point (if I can ever be said to actually have one....) is that they're not for cosplay, as Texsunburst59 rightly states above; and in the UK, that's mostly what it looks like.

In other news: Kris Kristofferson has just passed.

There was a guy that could wear the boots.

Well, bought a pair of cowboy boots for my young daughter. She has been asking for them for over a year and we caved.

Looks cute (also in all stars btw); a little like the girls when I was under 10 yrs in early nineties, before LA Gear became a thing.
