Why do I not like the sound of my beautiful McCarty?

I recommend grabbing every guitar, amp, pedal, and microphone for trade goods; And find some 594s. Then get the best one available.
That's what I did and now my life is wonderful.
Every time I open the case I get physically excited.
Every time I play it I'm transported to audio ecstasy.
Should I post this post? Am I self-aggrandizing?

The McCarty is such a wonderful guitar.

I really think that different pickups with all new pots, bumblebee caps, and 50’s style wiring will get it just where you want to be. I wouldn’t change the three way switch because it’s so rugged and has such a good feel.

Welcome to the forum.

Bumblebee caps are little more than snake oil. The cap in a guitar circuit is not in the signal path, nor does it bleed high frequencies to ground. A guitar circuit is an RLC (a.k.a. resonant or tuned) circuit. What the cap does is shift the resonant peak of the circuit down in frequency when the tone knob is rolled down. The resonant peak is the frequency at which inductive reactance equals capacitive reactance and the circuit becomes purely resistive. In essence, it is the frequency at which a pickup is loudest.
