Vintage Bass PU - not feeling the love

I have a core Custom 24 with HFS and Vintage Bass pickups. Whilst I love the HFS, I have never really bonded with the VB. I find it lacks character both in full humbucking and single coil (tapped?) modes. Has anyone else found the same and, if so, what did you swap it out with?

Make sure that sucker is set LOW , like below the pickup ring low. it might surprise you then.
Still think the Dragon 2 is one of the better PRS neck pickups that I have heard along with the DGT , Mira , McCarty

I have the same, but love it. Warm, smooth, yet punchy and articulate, and it blends so well with the HFS.

Maybe mine just happened to be at the ideal height or maybe it just works particularly well with the 5-way rotary on my '06 Cu24, but I'd never consider swapping it out.

Agreed. That the 57/08 if you still want to keep it PRS and have the splits.

Yes....I LOVE my D2's.....don't hear a lot of people praising them, but they do exactly what I want them to do.

I'm the opposite. I dislike the HFS but like the VB.

I've often thought about trying a VB in the bridge position just for kicks.
