Showing my age. I remember when I was but a callow yut of 17 in 1987, been playin' guitar since I was 12, first band at 15. My Dad was a very, very accomplished guitarist and by that age I had finally listened to him (just a little).
I wanted to learn "Going Home", Woodstock version, and as usual asked him for help ... said no, you know enough, learn it yourself.
I was pissed at the time, but I did ... that song turned me from a boy into a man, re: guitar.

About a year earlier, I clued into Hendrix and Clapton and proudly proclaimed it to my Dad, like he had never heard of them. He was really pleased. He was an original "hippie".
I was into sports back then and had a pretty short haircut. I'll always remember what he said.
... "about time, why don't you grow some hair". Sounds harsh thru posts, but wasn't ... we always had a good chuckle about that.
