Two weeks ago, I set out to trade both my Epiphone guitars for a PRS SE 245 that I fell in love with after trying it out at Guitar Center. When the GC employee told me that they were only offering $500 for the Epiphones, I decided to pass on the swap. At the time, I couldn't justify trading both the Epi's for one (albeit new) PRS SE. My wife said to me, 'You're going to regret not making that trade because you REALLY liked that guitar!' She was right and today I said 'Goodbye' to Epiphone and 'Hello' to my 2014 PRS SE 245!!!

This guitar is a joy to play and I wish I did this trade two weeks ago!!! And yes, I plan for the SE 245 to not be lonely for long...tune in next month for the next NGD!!!

I traded in a blackstar ht60 for my se245. I had to put a $100 or so into the deal but I don't regret it at all! Love the 245!

Right on my man! Good choice. I'll take one PRS over two Epiphones any day... well, almost any day.

You have a great guitar and a wise girlfriend. Keep them both. Congrats, and welcome to the forum. :top:

Thank you all for the welcome! The lone drawback I encountered (but will be rectified) is that my lower 3 strings are too big for the nut (I use EB 'Skinny Top/Heavy Bottom' strings), but that doesn't take away from the overall playability of the guitar.

Woo hoo!

Welcome, welcome, welcome! Glad you made the jump!

Just one thing, though, PRS guitars are potato chips.....

Congrats on the SE245.
Before throwing the baby out with the bathwater, ...I mean that although after reading about SEs and hearing that almost everyone does it, there is NO reason to spend money on a replacement nut.
Remember, IF a nut has ANY effect on an electric guitar's TONE, it's only when playing open strings. And if a nut improves that then you don't want all the chorded/pressed/fretted strings to sound one way and open ones to sound different lol.
But seriously...if you are experiencing binding, and if you don't have and cant get a nutfile, you can use torch tip cleaners or just a piece of emery cloth folded in half. Just be careful not to take material off of the bottom of the nut slots...unless you need/want to. I\m sure there are plenty of how-tos on youtube if you're nervous. If you are nervous, do it anyway. If you were gonna bring it to a "tech" anyway, try your luck first. IF you screw it up, no biggie...take it in. You were going to anyway.

I have a couple of SEs and some American PRSs and...the SEs are no slouches. In fact, one of them is my #1 gigger and the US models sit on stands as backups or altered tuning players. Looking forward to your NEXT NGD pics.
Congrats again and NICE!!
