mini-bucker 594's at TGS

I had one in a SE One a while back, probably 8 or 9 years ago. I miss this guitar.

The story went that some time in the early 1970s, Gibson had just sent Epiphone production to Japan and had a lot of Epi parts leftover at the factory since Epis were USA made throughout the 60s. Epi had used a lot of mini-humbuckers in guitars like the Sheraton, Riviera, and Wilshire, so Gibson needed to use up these parts. Someone figured out if you took some P-90 covers and cut out the tops for Mini-humbuckers, you could mount them in Les Pauls routed for P-90s, thus creating the Les Paul Deluxe.

I have a 1977 Gibson LP Deluxe with P90s that my Dad gave me (one of his). Black, looks like a "Black Beauty." I played it from 1990 to 2010. Between my Dad and myself, that guitar has seen several thousand gigs and countless hours of playtime. Still have it, still play it, but only at home.
