I turned my DGT into a Custom 22 (wiring that is...)

I have been looking for a used DGT in very good conditions because I like the neck and the pickups, the way they sound as humbuckers, I don't really care for the single coil split. I did find an exceptionally good one almost pristine 2012 a 10 top no less for the amount of money I was planning to spend. (see attached pics.)

BUT

I am not down with the way David Grissom has commissioned his control layout. I mean first of all 2 volume knobs is no use to me but even then, he's got them the opposite way than the rather logical way around, i.e. first volume is for the bridge p/u the next is for the neck and then you have a tone control that does the old push/pull malarky and finally a 3way pickup selector.

NOT IN MY HOME GRISSOM!

Yeah he's a great player and I do rate him but that control layout it's messing with my cave man logic.
To me the best sounding pickup combinations were those of the mid 80's with a rotary switch allowing in-between sound similar to a Strat, and such, plus a must have for me was that gorgeous Sweet Switch.

They are not easy to find those Sweet Switches but I did find one finally and so now my DGT is just a PRS with the neck and body of a DGT but with the full layout of a Custom 22. And guess what? I am as happy as can be, couldn't be happier in facts. To me this option has opened up the guitar to a wider array of sounds while retaining that same great sound from each individual humbucker.

Before you worry about the depreciation, don't do it, I have kept all the original DGT part and pots / wiring loom et all so in the event of me re-selling the guitar, the buyer will have it back to normal.

That tobacco burst is one of the classiest, best-looking of the "traditional" finishes! Nice guitar--I like your mod ideas, too.

Thanks but the tag from the factory calls that colour Black Gold, I agree it looks like tobacco burst but that's what the PRS people called it.

That's weird, indeed--"black gold" almost always fades to black not deep red like that. No matter... it's gorgeous whatever they call it.

My '08 DGT is so far gone. It's a DGT with first gen 57/08s, custom switching, and new frets (still 6100s, just new).
