I am waffling so hard about this amp!
I really like it for what it is, what it does, how it sounds, etc. What concerns me is if I get one, it's because I would gig it. If I gig it, we don't have a sound person-I am responsible for getting my lead volume where it needs to be by boosting it. I used an FSR Blues Junior for quite a while, trying all kinds of pedals for boost. In the end, none of them got it as loud as it needed to be. That is my only trepidation towards getting this amp.
A couple of the vids suggest it's stupid loud!I haven't seen one in person, but if they did anything w/the output side like they did w/the MT15, lack of volume won't be an issue.
Very true!I haven't seen one in person, but if they did anything w/the output side like they did w/the MT15, lack of volume won't be an issue.
Sure you can! Pick you poison for smooth OD solo tones. It should have plenty of kick to get your volume boost you need.I know it's got plenty of juice. We play a huge variety of genres, and I need a noticeable difference between "Crunchy Rhythm" and "Solo Volume." Not sure I can make it work with this amp.
Nice! Very cool to hear that about the Atma and the PS!Well, after developments in the last 24 hours, it looks like I'll be in soon!
Last night, I played my ATMA through my Power Station (thanks 11top!) and made some wonderful discoveries. The Bogner sound is more low mids emphasis than the JCM 800 upper mids emphasis type tones. I've still craved that upper mids modded Marshall type tone since I got it. We last night, I played the ATMA through the power station and found that the controls on the PS allow me to dial down the low end and open up the top end! BOOM, in seconds I had the Marshall tones I've always wanted! I couldn't believe how effective those controls were in changing that Bogner tone (which is great, no question) into the sounds of the 70s and 80s that I was in love with. So effectively, that now I don't need another amp to get those tones. And THAT allows me a clear path to go for the Hendrix type tones next, so the HDRX 20 will fit perfectly. I already have a Fulltone 69, Clyde Deluxe and Deja Vibe, so the HDRX will probably have it's own dedicated pedal board.
This morning, I got word that a friend wants one of my guitars I wanted to sell, and that will provide most of the cash needed. So I'm probably just a few days from getting one! The only downside is, this purchase will slightly delay my purchase of the new PRS comp and OD... but at this point I'm ok with that, given the tones I"ve heard out of the amp.
Yeah, Depth down, presence up, bright switch on, instant high gain Marshall!Nice! Very cool to hear that about the Atma and the PS!
Aw, there's nothing wrong with goofy.LOL. It’s not because I think it’s dirty. I heard what he said about why he named it that. I just think the name is goofy. So I hereby nickname it “Horsey” moving forward.
Another terrific demo! This is a great video. May be ordering on soon!
Of course there’s not. Heck, I’m the king of goofy. Well, maybe the prince, after @ScottRAw, there's nothing wrong with goofy.
This is one of the cooler things on the HX/DA, and a smart thing to incorporate on the HDRX. It’s like having a whole separate pseudo-parametric EQ that can boost/cut a group of frequencies at once. In a lot of ways, this amp reminds me of a half-power, less than half-price version of the HX/DA. Like a HX/DA SE.I love the blend option with bright and dark channels, great idea.
