Best under a grand?

Man that was a good looking one! What was wrong?
Veneer was chipped near the binding which you can see somewhat on the 2nd pic.
Black dust from sanding the binding got into the pores of the top and headstock veneer making it look dirty on close look.
Very generous dose of finish accumulated near the tip of the headstock.

All very minor, but all very basic craftsmanship flaws that could have been easily avoided.
Like I said my expectations may need to be adjusted a bit at that price point.

In retrospect, given how the top looked and how great it felt and sounded I think I was crazy to return it.
If you see it showing up again, buy it as it's exceptional.

For me, also a 2008 Mira.

To heck with the guitar, you win based on the books in your library! :)

My Swamp Ash Special. It was $500, and mildewed to hell. All the metal was corroded. I had to dismantle and clean it 3 times, in addition to leaving on the back porch for several days in warm weather. The strings were a lovely shade of green. Then I gave it to my luthier for setup after 3 months of work. He took it apart and cleaned it again. It’s now a great player, and even better, it’s blue!
