Action was high as h*ll!!

I don't play well enough for all that. When the action is high, my sloppy fingering is MUCH more evident.....lol. That "more finger meat" thing is true as I have to press down more and am more likely to touch and mute other strings with the rest of my finger tips. :confused:

Same here. Action is totally player dependent. My reasoning has always been that high action is better for people with strong, aggressive play styles. SRV is said to have been able to crack walnuts between his fingers. Considering his aggressive play style, it would make sense the strings need more room to do their thing. Dudes like Holdsworth are on the opposite end of the spectrum, super light touch and very little right hand picking, and he had very low action. I wouldn't say high action = easier bends, I think the physics of bending a string under more tension would make it harder.
