What guitar is Keith playing?

Nice guitar, great live video... man, Keith is such a consummate performer. There's a guy that absolutely deserves his success.

(And I bet it wasn't until he heard the tonal improvements that came with the new tuner buttons that he finally decided he could set aside his vintage Gibsons and Fenders for a PRS, at least for a song or two... ;) )

If any one wants to know about this guitar, I do know the story behind it. I saw Paul years ago (November 9th 2019 to be exact) at Chuck Levins for a music store clinic. This guitar is called the dirty Deana, hence the "Dirty" trust rod cover. The reason for dirty dean is because the top was colored from dirt in Pasadena Maryland. Paul had one of sales managers bring in dirty to color the top. November 9th of 2019, I noticed some of the same things all of you are talking about. This is a Pauls guitar with no toggle switches. Back then I noticed what Brian Ewald did, that when the volume was turned up that it sounds like a single coil pickup even though both coils are engaged. If he rolled the volume back it muddy up and sounded like a PAF humbucker. Fast forward to November 9th 2024 and PRS held another event at Chuck Levin's on the same day five years later. I asked Paul about this guitar for the 2024 event (not knowing about this post), and he told me Kieth Urban had it. I do have video of Brian Ewald playing the guitar while they were warming up back from 2019 (im new and not allowed to post links).

No way, what a cool story! Thank you for solving the mystery!

Cool first post. Thanks

JM013 - when I first saw this guitar in person, I was about as gitty as Brian Ewald because of the no toggle switches. I don't follow Keith Urban enough to really know how he uses it, and if he uses the guitar how Paul built it. Thanks for the response I will post a video shortly.

I really like the look of the deleted toggle switches. Keith plays all sorts of guitars/pickups. Moreso single coil and P90 lately but I could see why he would really like the sound of that guitar. I would love to see that video you were taking about one day!

I should be able to post this now since I have 3 posts. Most of these are shorts and please keep in mind I was recording with my phone. If you listen early in the video Brian says it sounds like single coils.

Awesome!! Thank you!

So here is the second part of the story that is funny. Paul pretty much called me out during this years 2024 event for taking a couple of videos in the beginning. When it came my turn to ask quotation I asked about this guitar. He pretty much swore up and down it had toggles and I called him out saying no it didn't, and I replied I have video. He shook his head at me at the end of the event when I showed him the above video.

He’s made so many guitars it’s probably hard to remember every detail lol

Well my wife’s day has officially been made after reading this post! “You mean Keith Urban is playing a guitar with the same name as me?”
Any idea where this guitar ended up? I haven’t seen Keith play it lately. Tone is killer on it!
