I have an older Pauls Guitar 408. I took it into a tech around 2008 and he rewired the switches. It has never had that strong single coil pickup sound on the toggles since he worked on it. When I bought it I was told the toggles used one split coil and a portion of the neighbor coil (so little volume difference). Now the problem is I barely have any tone difference. I checked the techs work and it checked out with what I could find online to be the wiring scheme for the 408, but somehow the magic of the split coil was just lost.
Should I go to the newer 408 wiring, or were the schematics of his day somehow incorrect?
