I'm a little disappointed. Last night during practice, I rolled the volume off on the guitar and sound was still coming through. I tried to roll it off again thinking that maybe I just didn't roll it back to 0, but the sound crackled in and out. All night long I was having to mess with it. The volume pot seems to be just fine from 2 or 3 through 10. It's just when trying to kill the sound entirely. The guitar is 3 months old. lol

Anyway, I'm posting here more for posterity, in case others are hitting the same issue, like a bad batch of potentiometers in production or something. It was manufactured in late 2023 per the hang tag.

I've submitted a warranty request to PRS, but really bummed to have to ship the guitar. The "dealer" is in another state, so that isn't an option. I only have 2 axes right now and the other is tuned to Eb to cover some songs that need that tuning for vocals. It's.... inconvenient. lol

They are asking me to hit it with contact cleaner, which makes sense. I need to go buy some and see if that helps, but I'd be really surprised if it's dirty after 3 months of ownership.

Anyone else have issues with pots this fast?
Bummer. Dirt could have been at factory too, theirs or manufacturers. Use some DeOxit. I use a double team of D5 and F5, works every time.

I stopped at the hardware store and picked another brand of cleaner. They didn't have deposit. I have to go pick my wife up from a hand surgery, but hoping to get some time to try this later on. Fingers crossed.

Hope all goes smoothly with Mrs Tedder’s hand surgery.

Hope the cleaner does the trick.

Thank you. She is home now and in pretty good shape. They were talking about knocking her all the way out, but didn't need to after all, so she's pretty coherent. They did a nerve block on her arm, so tomorrow will be the first hard day.

Hopefully the cleaner you bought is just cleaner and not cleaner / lubricant. You don't want to use a lubricant in there.

WD-40 has a contact cleaner that is very good. It is in their newer specialist line of products.

So strange....I've had this exact same issue before on a couple of my Custom 24's (my 2012 and my 35th Anniversary). Rolling the volume to zero and there'd still be signal passing through to the amp.

Oddly for me, at first, it was intermittent....only happening in a specific venue, regardless of which guitar I was using. Then, it started happening at home, too, with my 2012, and contact cleaner didn't resolve the issue.

Thinking it was the volume pot, I took it to a shop to have the pot replaced. The tech told me the pot was fine, but the solder connections weren't the greatest so he cleaned them up. This completely fixed the issue with the 2012, and I have yet to have it happen again on my 35th Anniversary. Not sure if that was just a fluke with the 35th, or if the venue also played a roll in it.
