I have posted before about the Fiore , the guitar that should be the perfect fit for me.
The first one I played did not speak to me at all. I was later convinced it was just me having a bad day.
Found a nice deal on one and took a chance.
This one was better BUT it just wasn't all I had hoped for , close , missing something , and the tuning was less than stellar. First PRS that even after all the usual stuff I do it still fought me. Now I did get it used so no telling but I just couldn't get the guitar to behave.
I tried nut sauce , graphite , filing , cleaning , new tuners , got it to 80-90% but it was finicky and would always drop tuning at the worst times like it was possessed.
I had one last thing to try switch the nut ( not a bone nut fan but that's a longer story )
BINGO !!! its crazy how one small thing can make such a big change. The guitar is now clearer and punchier and better balanced Oh and it stays in tune like all my PRS.
One last addition was a shorty Gilmore trem arm from John Mann.
Likely most will not have the issue I was having , but if your Fiore seems a bit flat to you the stock PRS regular nut ( Pat Reg ) is a perfect fit.

Nicely done sir.
How do you like the HSS vs the Silver Sky?
That was my problem to start with , I was hoping they would be closer and they are somewhat now. The SS has more "quack" likely because if the pickguard , The Fiore has more options. pickup switching wise. They both play great. The Fiore has a more traditional PRS feel similar to the 305 , DC3. No clear winner and there may not be, I still lean toward the Silver Sky.

Good comparison, thanks!
I cannot see myself replacing the SS with the Fiore, and your explanation makes it clear they are both their own thing.
Rightly so.
Cheers.

Very nice!

On paper, I should buy a Fiore. But in reality, my bank says I don’t have enough paper to pull that off. Seems like there should be a paper arbitrage opportunity there somewhere :)

Fiore SE would be great!
and did you end up using a bone nut?
I changed from the Stock Bone nut on the Fiore to a Standard PRS nut.
For me bone nuts can have a duller sound and depending on the piece of bone there vary wildly some wear supper quickly and are tough to get the proper slot size , you can get them close then one more hit with the file and its to wide or deep, I also think on trem guitars they are sticky so using some kind of nut lube is a must. when I first started working on my guitars I changed many to Brass and the PRS nut has many of the same properties even sounds like metal when you drop it.

Thanks for your insight on this…. I’ve had my issues with bone nuts as well….
