I'm a huge fan of John Mayer's tone with Dead & Co.

Just wondering if anyone has had any luck reproducing the tones he gets with the active electronics using pedals instead, and if so what you're using. My only boost on my board right now is an EP booster which is sort of the opposite of a treble boost.

Mine is a CU24 Semi-Hollow so I figure it's very close in physical design to the Super Eagle. I was going to try to get those same effects as the active electronics but down on my board.

Something tells me that mysterious PRS "V9" amp has something to do with it as well. And the longer scale length. If there's a pedal that "Jerryfies" your tone I'd like to know about it.

Someone posted a modded CU24 a while back and the tones were there. But there was an onboard preamp (unity gain buffer/preamp), middle pickup, and a Jerry-modded Fender Twin involved.

Interesting. Part of me wants to put in an onboard preamp, but the other part of me particularly doesn't want to do any real modding.
