Well Les, you just got a new guitar and everyone knows that you need a new amp to go with that. Geez, you've been around. You should know this by now.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's a rule.
If you go with a Radial JD7 you could expand to a 7 amp rig (plus DI-Re-amping capabilities)...
I have the DI re-amping capabilities with current gear, but that's a pretty cool box. Still, considering spending a grand, I think I'd go all out and just get an 8x8 Ampete that would let me send a guitar signal to 8 amps, and choose between 8 cabs with the press of a button! Plus, it will send the effects loop to any of the 8 amps, either in the amp's loop or in front of the amp.
Gotta say one thing about the transformers and how Radial uses them; I don't know if it's the transformers (I think Radial actually owns Jensen transformers now, or is a partner in the company), or what, but I haven't been happy with the way the Radial transformer boxes sound. They say they're transparent, but comparing them with my Lehle transformer box, I'd disagree. I find they color the sound a little more than I like.
Agreed... The JD7 does color the sound...for better or worse (depending on individual tastes I suppose), some of this is mitigated by the "Drag" control adjustment. I find it an acceptable trade off for being able to use multiple amps (up to seven simultaneously plus a dry DI), two of the channels have front of amp effects loop inserts too. I've looked at the Ampetes...correct me if I'm mistaken...they only allow you to play through one amp at a time (and only one effect loop that can be assigned to any amp). Looks like some super high quality gear though if that's what you want...looks like a big time saver...oh, and they have an expandable unit...if 8 amps aren't enough (the "Aristotle Edition").
You're right! And a new cab, new strap, new pick holder, new pedals, new cables, etc.
One can't miss an opportunity like this.
Have you seen the new Ernie Ball Pick Buddy?
It looks very nice, Les. Your pedalboard looks great, too.
A fraction of the size of Altoids or the like. Holds like 2-3 picks.
How's the Cab Clone work for ya? It would seem that the internet collectively hates it.

Oop, sorry about that, I just liked that one because it was painted inside and out, so doesn't rust as soon as I run it through the dishwasher like my Altoids ones do. Here, mentally replace said image with this image, (you can still reject it for being insufficient to accompany your PS guitar, I'm just doing this for your throat):Gotta call it like I see it. No tin cans for my PS guitars.
Also...I'm allergic to cats. My throat closes up just looking at that tin.
Would I like to get into something higher-end, like a Palmer or something else? Maybe someday. But I don't view it as a necessity.
