Just wondering if there's a string brand that optimizes vibration (therefor sustain). Seems like there could be/should be a difference.

Not much, I wouldn't think. The main reason for lack of sustain is energy loss. I mean, sure, there could be a little bit due to the construction of the string, but it'd have to be really faultily made to be significant.

EDIT: the best thing you can do, string-wise, is make sure you select the right gauge for the tuning and scale of the guitar, so that you can tighten it to a sufficient tension not to be too loose.

Maybe coated strings, as they tend to deal a bit better with sweat and finger gunk buildup. But they often do have a slightly different tone.

I like Cobalts and I like NYXL too.
That being said, I think you need to put the strings on that for you are the most comfy and represent the tone and feel you like. That should help your fingers do the talking.
