’sup,

I bought my old Starla back from the guy who I sold it to. It looks like there’s now no cap on the pots or wiring, looks like a total hack job. Also I’m noticing that the tone is very boomy on the neck pickup, more than I remember - could this be the reason why?

Also looks like a regular nut is on instead of wide fat, seems to not hold tuning as good with 11s as it did when I sold it... hmm, that’s for another thread.

Anyone any experience with tone caps and stuff?

If someone took the treble bleed cap off the volume, that could make the pickups seem a bit boomy when you roll down the volume. Shouldn't matter when the volume is on 10.

There has to be a cap on the tone pot or else it will act as a second master volume control. That could deaden the overall tone.

It could also be that they raised the neck pickup closer to the strings. You may need to experiment with pickup height to find your new sweet spot.
