I'm hoping to close a deal on a PRS One this weekend, to set up as a dedicated gigging slide guitar. One thing that will have to go, however, is the single coil pickup. I can't stand the hum.

Here's are some pickup thoughts, for your review and comment

Mini-humbucker - like on a 70's Les Paul Deluxe

Firebird - I like that fat Sonny Landreth Firebird tone

TV Jones Classic Plus - kind of a fat Starla sound

I don't think I want anything as detailed as a Barden for slide - that's asking for trouble.Gimme that fat, lap steel like tone

Any thoughts?

Check the PRS store online, and on eBay. There are some very hot P90`s for stupid money. I don`t need one, but they`re so cheap I might buy one anyway!

I set up my SE Soapy 2 for slide. I love to use P90's to play slide. Just turn the volume down until you start to play. MY Soapy 2 has the middle position which cancels the hum.

There are single-coil-sized pickups that are humbucking. Both Seymour Duncan and Dimarzio have them. Thomann conveniently has them on one page.
