If you hit a guitar on a typical stand with the kind of force shown in that video, what do you think would happen?
I think it'd fall over a lot sooner.
I have mic stands that weigh less, and I put expensive mics on them without issues. I mean, some level of reasonable care has to be part of one's habits.
Nonetheless, for those who are super-concerned, there are ballast bags made for mic stands (I use the Triad-Orbit mic stands when I don't need a large boom, and the products are very high quality). These could be used in conjunction with a guitar stand; the combination of the 3 bags would add another ten pounds to the base:

I wouldn't have a problem with trusting one of my PS PRSes to be safe on that stand during a session, though I believe in keeping my guitars cased when not in use.
