It's in great shape. Like, guitar store showroom. The neck pickup cover has a little smudging on it, but whatever. I can either polish it out or leave it cuz I really don't care. haha I'm gonna play it enough where smudges are the least of my concern.
I figured out the volume issue. I jumped the gun thinking it was a problem. The pickup heights were WAY off. I guess I just didn't really pay attention or something. I leveled them out and now it's way more even. Sounds really fantastic. I added a set of Dunlop strap locks tonight as well. Otherwise it's entirely stock as far as I'm aware.
I may take it to be professionally set up next week. It already plays like butter, but it's set up immaculately in E Standard. I already use my SG for E tuning, so I'll probably get this set up in D with a drop C. I dropped it down for funzies and it buzzes kinda bad on a couple strings. ha Intonation is still good, though. I also wanna toss a set of skinny top/heavy bottom 11's on it. I think it's got 10s now.
I think the vibrato is locked down somehow. I can see 4 springs through the hole in the plate and it doesn't really budge. It doesn't have the vibrato arm so I can't even try to test it out. I think I like it this way anyway. Never been much of a vibrato guy.
I'm really happy with this find. I seriously lucked out. It's also gonna make me a better guitarist I think, because I need to reign in some of my sloppiness. I love my SG, but it doesn't pick up all the subtle nuances of my mediocrity like this does. Hahaha It's my new favorite. My wife will be jealous since she got me the SG as a birthday gift... I'll just have to play it even when I don't feel like it to reassure her I still love hers.
