How does that shield work for keeping the volume down? I have a mesa mark V with a 2x12 and it's hard to open it up, especially since we are trying to lower the stage volume and have eliminated the wedge monitors and gone to in-ears.

Oh it doesn't keep volume down at all lol
It does however allow me to not kill the first few rows of church goers with the beam of death coming from the bogner cab lol
My suggestion to you would be to put the cabinet off stage somewhere and just run a long speaker cable to it. Especially since your running in ears, that would the prime choice.
