How NON PRS players sometimes feel

"Paul Reed Smith guitars are too expensive. They're not worth it."

1- Anybody check out the price of a Gibson custom shop figured top ES 335 lately?
2- How about an L-5?
3- I know this guy who is a "world class" cello player
(overused expression but in this case it actually applies)
He owns a $55,000.00 cello.
The reason he owns a $55,000.00 cello is...
he couldn't afford a really good one.

Yeah, OK.

US Gibson’s start are $899. The cheaper mainstream models run in the $1500 to low 2k range. And the equivalent to the core start at $2500 or so. Sky is the limit with custom shop. Wow that price line sound really familiar.

I had never heard of PRS - good or bad. The first one I saw impressed me and I bought it. It was thousands more than I went in the store expecting to pay for any guitar, but what were my options? Pay the price or leave without it. The former was less painful than the latter. I have never regretted it. That is all that matters to this conversation.

A lot of this is about priorities. Yes, there are people who really can't afford a PRS (or at least a core), but many of the people who complain about the price could easily afford one--if they prioritized guitar more than other hobbies, or buying a new and expensive car or truck, or taking nice vacations, or going out all the time. Buy the boring sedan instead of the F-150 and rent a truck the two days a year you actually need one, and there will be a lot more in the guitar budget.

He's not kidding - they even wear makeup somedays!

Bwahahahahahahaha....this is what Shawn was wearing when he gave me the tour last year

Well fellas I'm here to help that image.

People look at me and think "he has a PRS???? He sure don't look like no lawyer guy to me!!!"

Ha ha ha ha
Yeah, I wear sweats during the winter, and basketball shorts during the summer, and work from my basement. If anything , I’m a Doctor of pornhub

Ya know, sometimes perception is reality in some cases. I used to work for the largest law firm in Dallas, Texas. Some of the laws had a "band". Every piece of gear was top notch. PRS, Gibson, Fender, Mesa, DW, etc. a dream rig for a band if there ever was one. Since I was in office services under the title of "facilities coordinator", I was a glorified gopher. No harm, they paid me obscenely. But, back to the band, they once had a rooftop "gig" at the Gypsy Tea room in Deep Ellum in Dallas, so me and my staff were the roadies taking all that gear to the roof. Since they knew I was a player, it fell to me to kind of set it up as I would have my own band if I had one. Once done and the evening started for the guests of "baby lawyers", basic interns and junior partners, the sound that came off that rooftop would have driven dogs mad. They were very over rigged and very under talented. Not once was I asked to play with them....;-) Badge of honor.
