I just saw a Standard 22 at GC and the serial number was 9 42103 which I suppose shows as a 1999.
However, it has a Rotary Knob and a Sweet Switch which I though were discontinued in the early 1990s.

It sure looks like an 89 from the features, but I'm confused by the serial number.

Any help would be appreciated...

Google is your friend. Lol....

Rotaries were still being used in to the 2000's .

I think the OP is referring to the sweet switch being discontinued in the early 90's, not the rotary. The rotary is "normal" for a '99. Are you sure it was a stock sweet switch? It could have been a non-factory mini switch someone installed. I think all the Custom/Standard guitars in '89 were 24-fret, not 22. According to the PRS website, the Standard 22 was introduced in '94.

Based on the serial and other features, I'd guess it's a modded '99, not an '89. Got any photos of it?

Nah it already sold for $899. Thanks for your assistance. Damn if it didn't look like an 89.
