Experience Past: 2010 version

Experience used to be in the fall. Social media reminded me that 10 years ago a chat with the PRS wood buyer caused me to do something out of left field. I had gone to Experience to visit friends, listen in on some sessions I found interesting and talk to the Private Stock folks about a rosewood guitar.

I figured out what I wanted in a rosewood guitar, but none of the wood on hand spoke to me. I found spalt interesting though and on my way out to the car to head home, mentioned to the Moss man that he should consider it the next time he did some builds. He suggested we might be able to sneak into the vault before it closed for the day and....

Mrs and I both liked the look. I marked a spot on the front that I wanted the neck and back to match.
Mrs hates plastic, so we asked Paul & Tina to make covers out of some maple figured like the neck.

It is a fun guitar with a fairly unique voice.
It's a shame the narrow fields didn't stick.

My favourite part is the bird in the figure at the 12th fret. I pretty much had to build a guitar just to use that fingerboard.
