Attention CE-24 owners - bit of a mystery for you -

Hello all....

I haven't been around these parts in a while...

I'm a huge CE fan. I think the CE-24 may be the best guitar ever made. I've owned at least 6 over the years. I like to think I know everything there is to know about the CE's....but....

I finally found a 1990 in excellent/"bedroom player" condition.

I figured for sure a '90 would have had Standard treble and bass pickups...or at least HFS/VB...

But when I pulled up the bridge pickup, they are black/gold label uncovered Dragon II's. All the wiring and electronics look original and untampered....

Was 1990 one of those "transition" years at PRS where pretty much anything goes, and then they started to settle down into very defined specs per model? Let me know if this is a bit of a Frankenstein or one-off or just a common....

I always like hearing from other CE aficionados!

I like this CE....but damn, I sure miss my 95 Black Cherry...

I'm no expert, but I didn't think Dragon II's existed in '90. Maybe original Dragons?

Not a mystery. Replaced.

CE22’s typically came with D2’s, 24’s typically came with VB/HFS. Like Sergio said they were replaced.

Well...that kinda sucks. But on the other hand, now I won't feel so bad modding it to how I want it....

Agreed, unless you swap the magnet in a VB for Alnico IV then it’s ok. Dragon 1 neck is still my favorite
