NuGD 1996 CE 24 Stoptail

I picked up a 1996 CE 24 today. It's an unusual one, with a stoptail, somewhat flamey neck, and all mahogany. I *think* it's a Regular neck, as the width at the nut is the same as my NF3. I don't recall reading about any CE 24s coming with a Regular neck then, though.

I found it on FBM, about half an hour away. Took about three weeks for the seller to decide that he was ok with taking $900 for it. The case is beat up, but the guitar is in really good shape with just "normal" nicks in the poly around a few spots on the edges. Frets are in great shape. The volume pot is a bit scratchy, but it's improved with a bit of exercise. Should be an easy fix.

I don't know that the pickups are VB and HFS, but they should be. I've played it for the last 45 minutes. I like it a lot so far. Later today or this week I'll give it a good cleaning, look under the hood, and put on some new strings. That'll be my first time using winged tuners, so that'll be something fun.

HOLY UNICORN!! enjoy it!! I don’t ever recall seeing one with a stoptail

Oh man......I had been talking with that seller.

Don't really "need" another CE but for 900 i absolutely would have snatched it up.

Congratulations!

Sweet score! Don’t see many of those

900 is a steal! Some SEs are around that price wise....looks great!
Wow - $900 is an absolute STEAL. Great looking guitar. I love the "old" core CEs!

Super nice!

Sometimes I just can’t help myself. I’ve been playing this guitar more lately, and really been enjoying it. What did I find for sale today? Its sibling, a red all-mahogany CE22 with a stop tail. Same year, I believe, too. Dragon 1s.

I didn’t think too much and bought it. Seemed like it would be nice to put the two together. Three hours later, I’m thinking of what I’ll have to get rid of to keep it. I’m at the point where something’s got to go if something else comes in.

yeah, that is a HORRIBLE place to be! You need to move into a bigger house or take over more square footage in your current place

The worst of it is that I’ll have to get rid of something that’s not red. Somehow this is my fifth red guitar, and it’s not even a color I particularly love. I think the Yamaha beater is going to finally say goodbye.

The Only Thing That Needs To Go Is That Rule And Mindset. ;)

More Guitars Are A Good Thing. ;)

I enjoy shopping for guitars as much as I do the rest of the hobby. That can lead to unplanned outcomes.

If only I could find a job as a guitar buyer. Becoming a dealer would be fun, until you have to sell the guitars. There's a fellow locally who is setting up a dealership, but I don't think he really wants to sell any guitars. Listing used Private Stocks for close to $20k kinda hints at that.
