Well considering I'm a newb at recording still.. I'm happy I at least got one quick clip put together (Caution: the track level exported kinda hot). I had been playing along to a cover of Hum — In the Den, so I just played some of the rhythm section here. It's in drop B, which is probably not ideal, but I thought it'd be fun to see how the 594 handled such low tuning. I was actually quite surprised at how similar they recorded, despite the differences in setup. Chain is: Guitar → 2 channel Recto Rack (Red Modern, no boost) → Suhr RL → IR (York Audio Mesa 412 OS-V2 Mix 01). Gain on the amp is about 11:00, more than enough for me, and actually more than I should use to record with.
Guitar 1: McCarty w/ Metal pickup (bridge pos.), 9.5-46 strings
Guitar 2: McCarty 594 w/ 58/15LT pickup (bridge pos.), 9-42 strings
So would you be interested to know I switched between guitar recordings 5 times in this track? And I didn't even DI/reamp it. I recorded both as separate performances and cut between them.
Just cuz it was a cool cover, here's something you can waste time on, too:
