Sting’s 1987 PRS

Hey folks,


So, I’m a long time Sting and Police fan. I’ve been down a rabbit hole revisiting his 1987-88 period lately. One thing I’ve always wondered about is the dark blue/black PRS that he used on Saturday Night Live in 1987. I also just watched some of his ‘87 Brazil concert where he used it there as well… but sometime during the tour, he dropped it in favor of going with a Gibson Chet Atkins Steel and Nylon string. His bass player from that period, Tracy Wormworth, also mentioned that he gave her a 5 string PRS bass as a gift.

Any body out there know anything about Sting’s brief association with PRS in the mid to late 80’s?

I own the DVD "Bring On The Night", about the creation of the band and 1st album... I always thought it was a black strat... now I gotta' go look...

Dunno why I remember this but with a black sweater with a white teddy bear on the front.

Of all the odd stage costuming, Sting’s adult contemporary phase outfits are the goofiest looking to me.

Sting is great. Bucket list show for me. I wanted to go see him at Red Rocks few years back. What a great talent.

Don't miss the opportunity. Saw him last summer near DC... always surrounds himself with THE best musicians. He can still sing Roxanne and it sounds fantastic, which is saying something. Last time I saw him before that was in Montreal during the Police farewell tour - also a fantastic show.

Saw him at Ravinia in Illinois a couple years back. He was stellar and on point. His son opened up solo, pretty great performer also!
